Music for an exhibition — Juvisy (FR)

Commissioned by Audrey Perzo for the exhibition “Le crépuscule des formes” at Espace Camille Lambert.

Several parallels can be made between the work of sculpture and the work of sound. Of both, we can speak of harmony, color, light, shape, matter. It is on these common elements that Lundja Medjoub and myself wanted to compose, and to propose a music extending the experience of the work of Audrey Perzo.

Like the retinal persistence of what has been seen, the sonorities enter in vibration, background and figure merge. The piece explores this melting point.

“Complementary” is a sound creation conceived on the entire exhibition area. It offers two atmospheres in dialogue, each with its own time of perception. In the introduction, a slow and blurred version of the music is diffused, accompanying implicitly the eye of the public. Gradually, it is a faster, clearer version that we enter. This second space, dark, almost totally deprived of visual stimuli and dedicated to listening, concludes the exhibition. In the words of Audrey Perzo, it must ‘empty the viewer's gaze’.
