Matisse Vrignaud

composer & designer

I design sound environments for places, develop audio tools, and make sound sculptures. I am particularly interested in the malleability of our perceptive relationship to time – how to slow it down, speed it up, sequence it? – and to space – how to connect two spaces, separate them, make them habitable or on the contrary inappropriate? – . As a designer would shape an object or an idea, I elaborate the sound dimension of everyday sensory experiences. Trained at the Nantes Atlantique School of Design, then through the Musical Creation and Sound Arts courses at INA GRM, and Sound Design at IRCAM, I combine the utilitarian, philosophical, poetic or technical approaches of these different experiences, erasing the porous frontier between music, art and design.
